There is a crisis in this country, in rural communities trying to keep their hospitals open, not being swallowed up by the giant conglomerate hospital systems and being able to run their hospitals and make enough profit to keep the doors open and serve their community. It's a tricky issue. It's difficult for them. And that's why we started doing these shows because we are on an enormous number of rural stations around the country, and we think this is an important issue. Luckily, today we have Pam Stewart in studio. She is the CEO of Washington County Regional Medical Center , a 56 bed hospital with a 60 bed nursing home serving patients since 1961 that is located in a "landlocked" county, meaning it is surrounded by counties with no hospital.
